One of the fastest growing home trends for 2019, the botanical look is all about bringing the outdoors in. To incorporate this style into your living room décor, choose a colour palette that includes refreshing and serene colours from the natural world and accent with revitalising shades of green throughout. Furnish with pieces that use natural materials and finish off with some in-season flowers and houseplants. The truly brave may even want to have a stab at creating their own Living Wall (i.e. an interior structure comprising vertical panels of plants). Not only is the use of greenery on-trend, but it also has many health benefits including stress reduction and air purification.
Just because you’re decorating in black and white doesn’t mean you can’t hide a splash of color somewhere in the design. Consider a white sectional, chaise and cocktail table, paired with gold wall art or a tinted glass floor lamp. On a reclaimed elm or cast iron coffee table, you could add that color in the form of a potted plant. As always when styling with black and white, make sure the color is subtle, not bold.
Design offers you a many ways to warm up a blue hue. "Even if you choose a cooler blue, you can warm it up through layers of texture and lighting. Warm white bulbs in lighting that spreads from ceiling pendant to wall lights and table lamps and exposed timber floorboards, cosy wool rugs, warming oak furniture and an abundance of textiles from fully-lined curtains to upholstery will promise your room temperature feels balanced, whatever shade of blue you pick," Amy reassures.
