Do you have an unused space? A room with an eave or sloped ceiling can be a perfect place to add storage. In this design, we created a walk-in closet by fitting the space with open shelves and low bookcases. Use matching boxes and baskets to organize loose items and add a bench in the middle for some seating and a place to set things down.
Utilize every square inch. Just because you lack a front hall closet or don’t have space for a credenza, doesn’t mean you have to toss your stuff on the first surface you see. Take a cue from Details Blog and “pack as much functionality as possible” with wall-mounted organization. A whimsical sign or favorite piece of artwork will charm anyone who happens by.
We might be doing ourselves an injustice, though. "Basic colour theory always refers to blue being one of the cool colours, but that does not mean to say it will make your room feel cold," says Amy Conn, from Neptune design team. It is also a mistake to think that all blues are cold. "Colour temperature depends on the base and what tints and shades are added - for example, a blue with a yellow or red base will feel warmer than one with a purple or green base," she explains.
